Cristina Alabau is a painter from Valencia in Spain. To look at her work is also to admire an exercise in consistency and perseverance, a style defended and affirmed throughout her career.
Her elegant, poetic and evocative paintings contain intimate iconographies, enigmatic forms that are recognisable in her painting and that define their own intransmissible universes, constructed with symbolic elements that she arranges through intuitive springs. The figures that appear on her large canvases, almost always square, with clean, clear backgrounds, obey three concepts that are repeated hypnotically over and over again: man, nature and time.
