ALIAA ESSAM

Aliaa Essam is an Egyptian figurative painter residing in Geneva. She holds a BSA degree in Fine Arts from the University of Helwan in Cairo. Experimenting with different mediums, oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink, either on paper or canvas, she places women in their daily lives as a central theme in her work. She is inspired by little moments and small details, such as light and shadow, movements, forms and composition. 

 

Time constantly shapes how she perceives the world around her. Over the years, her view of women in their daily lives has evolved. She believes that beauty lies in what we recognize as familiar – what reflects our own self and our experiences. The women who inspire her are those who embrace their imperfections.
