ONOKO
Founded in 2020 by French artists Manon Duparc (b. 1991) and François Pain (b. 1988), Onoko is an artistic project dedicated to exploring enigmatic atmospheres through photography. Their main series, “Percept,” captures fleeting sensations beyond the visible, stripping away figurative elements to reveal the essence of light, color, and sound. The subsequently unedited images, which consist solely of complex color degradations, nevertheless exhibit a great sensitivity to the details of «light and form» or «forms of light», as well as to the atmosphere and its composition.
Onoko selected two special types of handmade Japanese paper: one enhancing deep blacks while the lighter colors burst out of the frame for a “black-hole” effect, the other brings out the light from abyssal hues.
Each Percept is produced in four formats, each being a unique edition preserving the fugacity of these colorimetric symphonies. Onoko offers a poetic approach to perceiving reality.
