MARINE DE ROUGÉ

Originally from Mauritius, Marine de Rougé has been immersed in art since a young age. With a sculptor grandmother and a designer mother, Marine has founded MABE Gallery in 2019 to promote emerging artists. During her free time, she has always painted to express creativity and escape.

The abstract artist creates a dialogue between the fragility of gold leaf and the solidity of thick raw paper. The delicacy of the gold, both ephemeral and precious, contrasts with the rough, stable texture of the paper. This juxtaposition amplifies the luminous presence of the gold while underlining its vulnerability. The work explores the tension between lightness and permanence, questioning our perception of matter and time. It evokes the ephemeral beauty and fragility of existence.
