IRENE VENETSANOU

Irene is a Greek Genevoise artist specialized in sculptural ceramic objects. Inspired by the natural world with its imperfect shapes and sometimes broken symmetry, Irene draws upon memories of home and travel, experiencing other cultures, sights, smells or fabrics and observing elements of past, present and future.

Working within ceramics, clay provides the perfect medium to explore the cycle of creation, destruction and rebirth. To her, imperfections and fractured lines embody the fragile balance of existence. Perfect results are an illusion, just as the perfect life is unattainable. 

Born in Athens, Irene lived and worked in London before settling in Geneva, where she has lived for the past 15 years. Her art, deeply rooted in nature and communication, reflects the diverse cultural influences she encountered through her travels. After studying in Athens and London, Irene explored art in Italy, France, and Switzerland. Since 2019, she has been a resident at the Bruckner Foundation in Carouge, Switzerland.
