TINEKE BRUIJNZEELS
Tineke Bruijnzeels works from her studio just outside Abcoude, Netherlands. Her diverse body of work is defined by a pursuit of essence within objects and materials. In her project, One More Line a Day, Tineke adds one line on day one, two lines on day two, and so on, accumulating daily until reaching 366 lines on the final day of the year—67,161 lines in total. Each piece, created on any available material, adheres to a 15 x 15 cm format. Reflecting on the project, she noted, “The year has been like life itself: with ups and downs, days where ideas flowed easily and days where the drawing demanded more effort.” Some days offered Tineke only an hour to work, while others allowed her a full day. She intentionally chose to work with materials accumulated in her studio over the years, enabling her to create both 2D and 3D drawings.Studio was born after 30 years of experience in the world of fashion in which the artist has been able to get to know a large number of countries and cultures. It is a need to express many of the images acquired in her head in a different way. The artist enjoys the freedom that her creativity and her hands have, transporting her back to those places she learned so much from.
